HAPPY BIRTHDAY Western Crawford (POPPY) and Kim Crawford!!!!!!!!
Well, we are getting used to a bare looking
place. Our goods will not be here until around the first of January, if even then.
It is a long ways over here.
The past two weeks have been pretty eventful for us. We went out walking one day and thought
that it would be a nice walk to the post office. Three hours later we found the post office.
I will not mention whos fault it was that we missed the turn. When you miss a turn walking that can
really mess you up. It would normally take about 25 minutes to walk there. So we got a little extra
PT in that day.
So we went and purchased two bicycles. I found a used one that is a hybrid (mix between a mountain bike and road bike)
and Cathy found a new ladies bike. The are both nice and came at a real good price. We now can
get to and from town easily and in less than 20 minutes. Cathy's bike has a basket on it so
we can go shopping and bring our goods home. Look for the pics
Cathy has made friends with the neighbors and has been out to see some sights. She went
to the Old Telegraph Station, Emily Gap, Camel farm, To pet wallabys and took a lot of
pictures of everything so check them out when you have time.
Cathy did have an interview with a local hair styling place, but I talked her out of going and staying home a while
longer. I like having the house clean and food made for me. I miss Mom! So she will be staying home for an
undertermined amount of time. She has been enjoying herself playing with the dog and running around with her
new neighbor friends.
I have made contact with the local Hams in the area (Amateur Radio Operators), and they
have been extreemly helpful to get me all set up here at the house. The built me an antenna (20m dipole)
and brought it over to my house, loaned me a power supply, and sold me a radio. I am just waiting on my Australian callsign
to come in before I can get on the air. Thank you very much JJ (VK8JJ) and Jim (VK8TX). Check for the pics
of the first antenna set up here. I am hoping to put up a vertical antenna on a support that
will put it above our 2 story roof here, but only with the help of JJ's experience and his
welder.
I have listened to many stations in the US on my new HF Amatuer radio transciever (ICOM 706MKII w/DSP, SSB & CW
Filters installed, Seperation kit, in brand new condition)
and believe I will be able to make contact there fairly easy and almost on a nightly basis.
So....anybody want to go get their liscense now? It would sure be a lot of fun talking back
over the airwaves. JJ purchased the radio first and then sold the rig to Jim and now I have
Purchased it from Jim. (look for pics under Antenna Page) Its funny how equipment moves around between Hams.
As soon as I get my call I am hoping to make contact with Frank Riley (KK0K,
Cathy's Dad) in Missiouri. He has a nice station set up in his home.
Well that is about all for this one. I will try to update again next Sunday. I am also going to try to thumbnail
pictures to make it easier for you guys to choose which one you would like to see instead of having to wait for everything
to load. Mr. Riley had been my web site advisor so any credit due for the site belongs to him.
I hope everybody is safe and well. We love You and May God Bless You!
